HERMETIC CLOSING DEVICE FOR HOT DIPPING INSTALLATION

PURPOSE:To maintain thoroughly an inert gaseous atmosphere in a hood with a device which ejects an inert gas to a strip drawn up from the inside of a plating bath of which the surface is covered by a hood by providing a sealing plate to the outlet at the top of the hood. CONSTITUTION:An inert gas is ejected toward a strip 5 from a pair of wiping nozzles 3, 4 in a hood 2 covering the surface 1 of a hot dipping bath to adjust the thickness of plating. A pair of sealing plates 11, 12 are provided in the outlet 7 at the top of a hood for drawing out the strip 5. These plates incline upward toward the side where the plates approach mutually. The plates are fixed over the entire length of the outlet 7 at the size slightly larger than the entire width of the strip 5 so as to face respectively the two surfaces of the strip 5 and are formed of a repulsive, flexible and heat-resistant material (such as stainless steel). The outflow rate of the inert gas from the hood 2 is thus reduced and the inert gaseous atmosphere is thoroughly maintained in the hood 2.
