PURPOSE:To obtain an ink-impregnated sintered body uniform in density of a printing surface and excellent in printing quality and durability, by molding a green compact by pressing in both the axial direction and normal directions. CONSTITUTION:A powder of a synthetic resin comprising 66-nylon as a main constituent is placed in a mold, is compression molded at a pressure P' in the axial direction, and is sintered in a non-oxidizing atmosphere to obtain a low- density primary sintered body in the form of a cylinder having a length L, an outer circumference R and an inner circumference (r). The primary sintered body is cut radially at parts B, then arcuate surfaces of each cut piece is pressed at a pressure P'' in the normal direction, and secondary sintering is conducted to obtain a sintered body having a density of 0.75-0.90, a predetermined porosity and a predetermined strength. Since the green compact is molded by pressing also in the normal direction, the density of the cylindrical sintered body is made to be uniform. An ink-impregnated porous body produced from the sintered body has excellent uniformity of printing quality because of the uniform density of the printing surface, and has excellent durability because of the absence of low-density parts. In addition, an ink-impregnated porous body of an elongated shape can be easily obtained.
