CEPHEM COMPOUNDS

Cephem compounds represented by general formula (I), wherein R<1> represents a hydrogen atom or an amino group-protecting group and R2 represents formula (II) or (III), wherein R<3> represents a lower alkyl group and R<4> represents a lower alkyl group or an alkoxy group, and salts thereof. These compounds are useful as starting materials for synthesizing cephalosporin derivatives for oral administration.
