<p>An apparatus and method for the continuous pressing of comminuted or chipped materials into multilayer products is disclosed. The quality and composition of the particular layer desired in the end product can be determined by means of a multicompartmented hopper into which materials of various sizes and qualities are fed. The materials are then continuously and controllably fed into a pressing chamber into which a pressing piston operates in one preferred direction, namely the direction of the feed, and a pair of pressing ram means act from both sides, the interaction of all pressing means forcing the pressed product into a channel at the output of the pressing chamber. Heating elements arranged adjacent to the output channel will heat the compressed material to a temperature sufficient to assure complete solidification and hardening of the end product.</p> |
