PURPOSE:To work a gasket formed of a metallic mesh without slug and burrs and to improve the yield of material in productin of said gasket by winding a belt-like mesh formed of heat resistant fine metallic wires around the columnar projections of a lower die and molding the same by compression with an upper die. CONSTITUTION:A belt-like mesh 15 formed of heat resistant fine metallic wires is wound around the columnar projections 3, 4 of a lower die 1 and is put into a frame die 10 then the mesh is compressed and molded by an upper die 5. A gasket of a prescribed shape is formed without producing bars and slug at all to the outside of the dies and working efficiency is improved without the need for ancillary operation such as cleaning and moreover the yield of material is improved considerably.
