NEW MATERIAL:The asymmetric copper complex obtained by the reaction of an asymmetric copper complex with a monosubstituted hydrazine. USE:Catalyst for the synthesis of a cyclopropanecarboxylic acid ester derivative useful as an intermediate and raw material of pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. PREPARATION:The novel asymmetric copper complex can be prepared by reacting the asymmetric copper complex of formula I (R1 is alkyl or benzyl; R2 is 2- alkoxyphenyl or 2-alkoxy-5-alkylphenyl; X1 and X2 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro, or adjacent X1 and X2 may together form benzo group) with (preferably 0.5 equivalent, based on the copper of the compound of formula I , of) the monosubstituted hydrazine of formula R3NHNH2 (R3is aryl, aralkyl or alkyl), preferably in a solvent such as benzene. The starting raw material of formula I is obtained by the reaction of the asymmetric Schiff base of formula IIwith a proper cupric salt.
