PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the method and system which can monitor respective optical fiber transmission lines by a single monitor device in a network equipped with the optical fiber transmission lines. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with a 1st optical fiber transmission line 2, 2nd optical fiber transmission lines 4, a branch part 6 which optically connects them, the monitor device 20 which is optically connected to the 1st optical fiber transmission line, and a reflection part 24 which is provided nearby the open end of the respective 2nd optical fiber transmission line 4. The monitor device 20 outputs a monitor light to the 2nd optical fiber transmission lines 4 through the 1st optical fiber transmission line 2 and branch part 6. A reflection part 24 reflects the monitor light to generate an identification light signal having a pattern for identifying a corresponding 2nd optical fiber transmission line 4. In this constitution, the monitor device 20 can detect abnormality of each 2nd optical fiber transmission line 4 from whether or not there is an identification light signal. |
