PURPOSE:To charge electrostatically and uniformly a photosensitive body, and to prevent the photosensitive body from damaging in long-period use by forming mixedly a conductive brush of plural kinds of fiber differing in resistivity. CONSTITUTION:The conductive brush 3 of a brush roll 1 formed by implanting the conductive brush 3 in the circumference of a roll core 2 is formed by strading composite fiber obtained by dispersing conductive particulates of carbon, etc., in, for example, viscose rayon and acryl to 10<3>OMEGA.cm electric resistivity and metallic fiber with 10<-5>OMEGA.cm electric resistivity. Namely, the resistivity should be <=10OMEGA.cm so as to obtain uniform electrostatic charging characteristics with the composite fiber. When, however, this value is obtained, a large amount of conductive particulates should be dispersed, and the composite fiber containing a large amount of dispersed conductive particulates is low in strength and hardly woven in a pile shape. For this purpose, the metallic fiber such as stainless steel fiber is stranded at a specific ratio to woven the fiber in the pile shape, and the conductive fiber with <=10OMEGA.cm resistivity is obtained. |
