MANUFACTURE OF CORROSION-RESISTANT COVERED STEEL SHEET PILE

PURPOSE:To improve the durability and corrosion resistance of steel sheet piles by a method in which a covering sheet consisting of an adhesive layer having a specific bonding temperature range and a bridged plastic layer is pressed on the surface of a steel sheet pile heated by a pressing force for bonding. CONSTITUTION:A steel sheet pile 2 is preheated, and a 0.7-3.0mm.-thick covering sheet 5 consisting of a brided plastic layer 6 and an adhesive layer 7 having a specific bonding temperature range of about 50-200 deg.C is set by turning its adhesive layer 7 on the surface of the pile 2 and pressed along the surface of the pile 2 by an external pressing force for bonding. The surface of the steel sheet pile can thus be protected from being directly exposed to water, air, and sunshine and therefore, the high corrosion resistance of the steel sheet pile can be kept for a long period of time.
