PURPOSE:To prevent failure of ink injection and leakage of ink caused by absence of capping, by installing a warning device when capping of recording head is not made at the time of cut-off moment of electric power source. CONSTITUTION:When a power switch 9 is placed in ''ON'' position and an ink jet printer is in operation, even if a relay 10 is in ''OFF'' position, a cap 4A is dismounted from a recording head 1 and a detecting switch 7 is in ''ON'' position, a buzzer 12 does not receive a current from a power source 11. Now, the power switch 9 is placed in ''OFF'' position without capping, on operating lever 5 is not allowed to drop down to a position where a cap 4A closes tightly the end of recording head 1 and consequently, the detecting switch 7 is moved to ''ON'' position and further. Power from a source of Vcc is not applied and the relay 10 is placed in ON position and thus, a closed circuit is constituted by back-up source 11 and buzzer 12 and a warning is given by a buzzer 12.
