A pretensioned, thermally-insulated steel pipeline for the transportation of heated media is described, which pipeline consists of an inner pipe and an outer pipe, and thermal insulation in the annular space between the pipes. A connecting joint between the pipeline pieces consists of metal pieces, namely a pipe nipple which is screwed onto the one end of the one pipe piece and is screwed to a collar which is screwed onto the other end of the other pipe piece. The advantage is an uninterrupted clear width of the inner pipes even in the region of the connecting joints and in that the connecting joints also do not project radially beyond the outer pipe.
