The Diesel oil tank, e.g. of a commercial vehicle, has a fuel outlet (2) to the engine. Part of the fuel pipe (3) reaches into the tank. At the tank top through opening (4) a float (5) is inserted. A plastics foam block or cylinder (6) is enclosed with plastics foil, perforated to ensure fuel entry. The plastics foam block also serves as an extra fuel filter, of which the capacity depends on the size of the cells in the foam block. The block or cylinder may be fitted with a recess or handle to facilitate easy replacement.
