The reading aid cxonsists of a box (1) containing two rollers (3, 6) with sprockets (5, 7) engaging with holes in the edges of a printed strip that passes from one roller to another as the rollers are turned. The rollers can be operated manually, by knurled knobs (4, 8), or automatically, by a battery-powered motor. In the latter case the knobs can be replaced by push-buttons or voice-actuated controls. The box can also be illuminated and fitted with a magnifying screen (2). A sliding indicator (9) marks the line being read.
