PURPOSE:To uniformly sample sludge on bottom under water by a method in which the mobile mechanism of a sludge sampler is operated and also a suction bucket mechanism is moved along the travelling body. CONSTITUTION:Struts 1 are set in two rows in groups of three for each row on the bottom under water, where sludge is to be sampled, rails 14 and pipes 16 are laid across the lower sides of the struts 1, and supporters 15 are provided to the rails 14. A sludge sampler is set between the paired rails 14 and provided with a travelling body 19 of a length enough to be laid cross the rails 14, mobile mechanisms S on both ends of the travelling body 19, and a suction bucket mechanism T movable along the travelling body 19. The mobile mechanisms S are operated, and the suction bucket mechanism T is moved along the travelling body 19 to uniformly sample sludge on the bottom under water.
