PURPOSE:To release a personal computer from a limited application as a part of a multiple address device by providing a manual switch to a facsimile and personal computer connecting type composite device so as to use the personal computer in terms of off-line. CONSTITUTION:An interface section 40 of a personal computer 40 is provided with AND gates 41-44 and a switch 45. Only ER(DR) and SD(RD) lines are used in an interface P S232C and it is operated as the start-stop system. In throwing the switch 45 to the ON-line position, and AND gates 41-44 are opened, and on the other hand, when the switch 45 is thrown to the OFF-line position, the AND gates 41-44 are closed. The ON/OFF-line control is separated from the software of the personal computer by controlling the ON/OFF-line through the operation of the switch 45 in this way and the application of the software development device is recovered for the personal computer.
