PURPOSE:To allow objects to be stored in high density, by a method wherein, in a device which stores approximately rectangular parallelepiped objects, such as tape cassettes, on a storing shelf, the storing shelf is constituted such that a containing part, having width wider than that of the object, and a space, having width narrower than that of the containing part, are disposed in a manner to be horizontally and vertically superposed with each other. CONSTITUTION:In a system which delivers rectangular parallelepiped objects 1 in and out of a storing shelf 2 by means of a selecting and transferring mechanism 3, the storing shelf 2 is constituted such that an object storing part 13, which has a tapered surface at an inlet part and width wider than that of the object 1, and a space part 14, having a relatively narrow width, into which an object grasping and selecting mechanism 15 mounted to an object selecting part 6 of the selecting and transferring mechanism 3 is inserted and which serves to perform a grasping and releasing action for selecting and containing the object 1, are disposed. Namely, the object containing parts 13 and the space parts 14 are alternately disposed in a vertical and a horizontal direction in a manner to be horizontally and vertically superposed with each other. This enables the rectangular parallelepiped objects 1 to be stored in high density and permits quick delivering-in and -out of the object 1. |
