The substituted diamino-1,3,5-triazine compound, a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt or a stereochemically isomeric form thereof has the formula I wherein: R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, hydroxy, amino, optionally substituted alkyl, alkyloxy, alkylcarbonyl, alkyloxycarbonyl, Ar1, mono- or di-alkylamino, mono- or di-alkylaminocarbonyl, or dihydro-2(3H)-furanone or R1 and R2 taken together may form pyrrolidinyl, piperidinyl, morpholinyl, azido or mono- or di-alkylamino-alkylidene; R3 is hydrogen, Ar1, alkylcarbonyl, alkyl, alkyloxycarbonyl or alkyl substituted with alkyloxycarbonyl; R4, R5, R6, R7 and R8 are independently hydrogen, hydroxy, halo, alkyl, alkyloxy, cyano, aminocarbonyl, nitro, amino, trihalomethyl or trihalomethyloxy; L is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl or alkyl substituted with one or two substituents independently selected from cycloalkyl, optionally substituted indolyl or phenyl and Ar1 is optionally substituted phenyl. A pharmaceutical composition thereof is useful for treating subjects suffering from HIV infections.
