PURPOSE:To improve the slidability of a device to a recording medium by forming the face, which faces the recording medium, of the device with materials which has a heat conductivity not to soften a binder of the recording medium when this face is slided on the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:In case that a magnetic tape and a magnetic head are always brought into contact with each other and are slided in a magnetic tape storage device or the like, it is important that heat generation due to sliding friction is held down to such degree that the binder of the magnetic tape is not solftened. When the face, which faces the recoridng medium, of the magnetic head is formed with various kinds of material and is allowed to collide with the magnetic disc artificially to measure sliding characteristics of individual materials, the magnetic head is floated on the rotating magnetic disc and a specific oscillation is given to the magnetic head for the purpose of accelerating the collision phenomenon between the magnetic head and the magnetic disc. As the result of measurement where materials indicated in a table 1 are used as slider materials of the magnetic head, the life of sliding of individual materials is dependent upon the heat conductivity, and materials having >=0.1cal/cm.sec, deg.C heat conductivity are superior in sliding characteristic. |
