PURPOSE:To provide a glass compsn. for a magnetic head which decreases corrosion of glass into ferrite and bubbling in the glass by having the compsn. consisting of specific weight ratios of SiO2, B2O3, Al2O3, BaO, MnO2, Na2O, K2O and ZnO. CONSTITUTION:A glass compsn. for a magnetic head of this invention contains 15-22% SiO2, 18-28% B2O3, 2-6% Al2O3, 3-8% BaO and 0.2-4% MnO2. The compsn. contains further at least one kind of 4-10% Na2O and 2-4% K2O and consists of the balance ZnO with inevitable impurities. This glass compsn. has the coefft. of thermal expansion approximate to the coefft. of thermal expansion of Mn-Zn ferrite. The water resistance of the glass is improved by incorporating at least one kind among <=2% LiO2, <=2% MgO and <=5% CaO in the above-mentioned compsn.
