PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brochure protecting member and a brochure in which unreadable pages are not produced when articles are attached to the brochure. SOLUTION: In a brochure protecting member, a paper board having at least one article housing part 4 is pasted to a base paper, and notches are formed approximately in parallel with one another either in the vertical direction or the horizontal direction at the paper board. Furthermore, to the base paper being in the state of spread, the paper board having the article housing parts on positions approximately being symmetrical to a centerline of the base paper is pasted, and the paper board has notches being approximately in parallel with the centerline and also has a plurality of notches. The notches are not spaced uniformly, and the spaces become relatively narrower as they approach the centerline while becoming relatively wider as they separate from the centerline. A blank paper is pasted to the paper board, excluding the parts where the article housing parts exist. A brochure 9 is such a one that is made up by binding any one of the above-mentioned brochure protecting members by means of saddle stitching or perfect binding.
