PURPOSE:To make a brake compact and reduce the number of its parts, by fitting a brake metal on the peripheral surface of a piston rod, fitting a member slidably on the peripheral surface of the brake metal, and moving the member in a direction slightly different from the axial direction of its peripheral surface. CONSTITUTION:Brake metals 5, 6 are slidably fitted on a piston rod 1. The axial movement of the brake metals is limited by a cylinder block 10 and a rod end block 2. The peripheral cylindrical surface of the brake metal 5 has an axis slightly different in direction from that of its inside cylindrical surface. A brake piston 7 is provided with cylindrical inside surfaces, which are fitted with sliders 13, 12 on the peripheral cylindrical surfaces of the brake metals 5, 6 and slightly different in direction from each other. When the piston 7 is moved leftward by a spring 8, the brake metal 5 is pushed on the piston rod 1 perpendicularly to the axial direction and the brake metal 6 is also pushed on the piston rod by the reaction force of the brake metal 5 so that the piston rod is braked. |
