PURPOSE:To prevent any decrease in he discharge capacity of a button-type alkaline battery which might be caused due to breakage of a separator placed on a positive active material by interposing a separator-protecting sheet between the separator and an electrolyte-holding member. CONSTITUTION:In a sealing plate 1 which also serves as a negative terminal and to which a sealing ring 2 is attached, zinc 5 used as a negative active material and an electolyte-holding member 6 are placed. After that, a separator 7 placed on a positive active material 8 composed of manganese dioxide and installed in a positive case 3, is attached to the electrolyte-holding member 6 to constitute a button-type alkaline battery. A separator-protecting sheet 9 is interposed between the separator 7 and the electrolyte-holding member 6. A member having a membrane resistance of below 500mOMEGA/cm<2> and a tensile strength of over 1kg/mm. in 40% aqueous KOH solution, is used as the sheet 9. By the means mentioned above, any decrease in the discharge capacity of the battery which might be caused due to breakage of the separator 7 can be prevented. |
