PURPOSE:To prevent generation of cracks in built-up weld parts when a metallic layer is built up on the outer surface of the base material of a metallic die by performing low dilution built-up welding to parts only which are highly worn away when the metallic die is used and high dilution built-up welding to the other parts. CONSTITUTION:When a metallic die for press work is manufactured by forming a built-up layer of a metal which has a high hardness and is excellent in the resistance to wear, seizing resistance, and lubricity on the outer surface of an inexpensive and strong metallic die making base material 5, such as steel, etc., a high-hardness padding material 6 is built up with a low dilution ratio (low penetration condition) to parts only which are highly worn away when the metallic die is used of the whole outer surface of, for instance, circular metallic die making base material 5 and a metal 7 is built-up welded with a high dilution ratio (high penetration condition) to the other surface. In this case, it is necessary to make the built-up parts of the metal 6 formed with a low dilution ratio and the metal 7 formed with a high dilution ratio in the same circular form on the outer surface of the metallic die making base material 5. Reversed polarity soft plasma padding method is used for this padding. |
