PURPOSE:To decrease generation of shrinkage cavity and to maintain specified quality in a pressure casting method in which a main body mold is cooled after pressure casting by decreasing the thickness of the body mold to a prescribed value or below then increasing the flow rate of a coolant. CONSTITUTION:A pressure casting method consists of passing a coolant through the cooling hole of a main body mold forming a casting cavity to cool the mold and casting a slab. The damaged mold surface on the molten metal side of the mold and the rear surface thereof are ground by a prescribed amt. and the mold is reused after the mold is used for a prescribed number of casting stages. The thickness of the mold is therefore decreased successively. The flow rate of the above-described coolant is increased when the thickness of the main body mold decreases to<=520mm. in the case of casting a stainless steel (SUS 304) with the main body mold formed of, for example, graphite. |
