PURPOSE:To descale efficiently a steel strip and to improve surface quality by projecting mechanically a fine granular abrasive material to the strip to blast the same and descaling further the strip with a rotating tool then pickling the steel strip. CONSTITUTION:A hot rolled steel strip 1 is blasted by means of an abrasive material having <=0.35mm. grain size projected mechanically at 45-90m/sec projecting speed from projectors 2a, b, 2c, d in a blasting chamber 3a between rolls 4 and 5 and a blasting chamber 3b between rolls 6, 7. The strip is then descaled by a rotating tool consisting of brushes 10, 12 and backup rolls 11, 13, etc. in a blasting chamber 9 between rolls 8 and 14. The strip 1 is thereafter passed through an acid soln. 17 such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid in a pickling tank 16 so as to be thoroughly descaled. Such strip is transferred to the succeeding stage such as a cold rolling installation, etc. |
