PURPOSE:To reduce the frontal width of a ribbon cassette and contrive to reduce the size, by a method wherein a let-out core and a take-up core for a ribbon are supported by a single oscillatable plate, and a ribbon-containing space corresponding to the outside diameters of the let-out core and the take-up core changing with the taking up motion of the ribbon is provided. CONSTITUTION:When a take-up gear 68 is rotated concurrently with the rotation of a motor to take up the ribbon 56 onto the take-up core 64, the outside diameter of a pancake 56b of the ribbon on the take-up side is gradually increased. Concurrently, the oscillatable plate 46 is turned in the direction of an arrow A with a fixed shaft 44 as a center against a cylindrical coil spring 48. In this case, the take-up core 64 is drawn to the side of the center of the ribbon cassette 40, while the let-out core 52 is drawn in the direction of an arrow B toward a peripheral wall 42a. Therefore, even when the outside diameter of the pancake 56b is increased, the pancake 56b is contained in the containing space in the cassette 40. On the other hand, since the outside diameter of the pancake 56a on the let-out side is gradually reduced, the pancake 56a is contained well in the containing space even when it comes to a position proximate to the peripheral wall 42a. |
