The aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution is stabilised and buffered by addition of a few parts per thousand of tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane and of phosphoric acid and/or of a sodium- or potassium-based salt, for example monopotassium dihydrogenphosphate or disodium monohydrogenphosphate. A pH of approximately 6 is given to the solution so that its acidity is close to that of the skin.
