<p>PURPOSE:To enable the adjusting of sensitivity of a rust detector handily and accurately by preparing a sensitivity adjustor in place of an actual cable sample. CONSTITUTION:An adjustor is a columnar body having a hollow 40 inside, which has a rust detection coil unit 41 of a rust detector to be adjusted at one end thereof and an opening 42 is sealed with a cap 43. A female thread 44 is cut on the inner surface of the hollow 40 and a detection body 45 with mating male thread cut is screwed down thereinto. The adjustor body and the cap 43 are made of plastics and the detector body 45 made of copper or phosphor bronze. In operation, the tip of a rust detection coil 23 is mounted on a mounting section 41. The position of the detection body 45 is determined beforehand by actual measurement corresponding to the actual cable as follows: When the interval is L1 between the detection body 45 and the mounting unit 41, a conductor has no rust, when L2, it has some rust and when L3, it has a plenty of rust. In this manner, at each position of the detector 45, the rust detection coil 23 obtains a correct output to examine whether it results in the right decision.</p> |
