PURPOSE:To make it possible to operate an automatic transmission unit in a range in which the travelling ability and fuel consumption are satisfactory, by providing such an arrangement that a shift-down speed changing curve is set in accordance with a low rotational speed side equi-output curve, and a shift-up speed changing curve is set in accordance with a high rotational speed side equi- output curve. CONSTITUTION:A CPU203 in an electronic control circuit 200 computes to determine whether speed shifting should be made or not, with reference to a shift-up speed changing curve Ld1 and a shift-down speed changing curve Ld2 which are determined in accordance with a turbine rotational speed v.s. engine load characteristic that is read out on the basis of a turbine rotational speed signal ST and a load signal SL. These speed changing curves are parted from each other by the range of variations in the rotational speed of a torque converter output shaft which is obtained in accordance with the difference between the gear ratios of adjacent speed shift stages in each of turbine rotational speed v.s. produced output characteristic curves upon fixing of the fuel consumption rate, and as well are set in accordance with a low rotational speed side equi-output curve and a high rotational speed side equi-output curve which have equal values. |
