Along each of two symmetrical optical paths for reproducing the stereoscopic pair, the optical system comprises a first objective O1; O'1 in front of a photosensitive medium S, a second objective O2; O'2 at the front and two reflective mirrors M1, M2; M'1, M'2. The principal axes of the objectives are parallel. Passing through two objectives enables an upright (right-hand) image to be obtained. The distance D1 between the first objectives is equal to the half-length of a standard miniature (small) size of film, such as 24 x 36. The distance D2 between the second objectives can be adjusted between the first distance and the stereoscopic base, 60 to 70 mm, so as to give good relief, especially when the object observed is close. The distance is adjusted by rotating, in opposite directions, the two assemblies B, B', each composed of a second objective and two mirrors, about the principal axes X1, X1, X'1, X'1 of the first objectives. <IMAGE>
