PURPOSE:To grind the deteriorated surface of a photosensitive body properly without removing the photosensitive body from the titled device by forming a linear electrostatic latent image on a part on which an image on the surface of the photosensitive body is not formed and comparing the surface potential with a reference potential. CONSTITUTION:The part 4a on which the image on the photosensitive body 4 is not formed is electrostatically charged by a corotron 40 and four linear electrostatic latent images 42 are formed by an exposing means 41. A comparator 46 compares the potential of a part 4a which is measured by a surface potentiometer 43 with the reference potential of a reference power supply 47. If the surface of the photosensitive body 4 is deteriorated, the surface potential is reduced and four pulse signals are not outputted, a plunger 34 is actuated and a rotary grind stone 15 grinds the surface of the photosensitive body 4. The surface potential is compared at every grinding to grind properly and securely and it is unnecessary to remove the photosensitive body 4 from the device. Since the width of the electrostatic latent images 42 is 1mm. or less, the slight deterioration of the photosensitive body can be detected. |
