PURPOSE:To display program numbers on a screen even though the numbers of program are numerous with a character broadcasting receiver which makes a lateral scroll display, by performing display process of program numbers by the scroll. CONSTITUTION:Transmitted character data are once taken in a buffer memory 16. In the case of one line scroll, namely, at the time of H mode, no character data are taken in continuous 11 fields. That is to say, character data are sent to a screen by the quantity of longitudinal one line (18 dots) for one field and the next one line of character data are sent at the next field. In such a way, all the transmitted data are sent by 12 fields. A scrolled screen is obtained by shifting leftward by one bit for one field. Transfer to a pattern memory is performed in such a way that the content of the buffer memory 16 is shifted leftward by one bit and a carry is stored at the right end of a pattern memory 17 and, at same time, the pattern memory 17 is shifted leftward by one bit. Such operation is performed to all addresses of the pattern memory 17 in the same way.
