PURPOSE:To obtain a wear-resistant sintered alloy having improved wear resistance and pitting resistance as well as high strength by adding P, C and Cu to Fe-Cr-Mo-V alloy powder and sintering the prepd. powdered mixture in a liq. phase in a nonoxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A powdered mixture consisting of, by weight, >=85% Fe-Cr-Mo-V alloy powder and the balance powder of a P alloy, Cu or a Cu alloy and carbon powder is prepd. The Fe-Cr-Mo-V alloy consists of 2-7% Cr, 0.1-1.5% Mo, 0.1-3% V and the balance essentially Fe, and the mixture contains 1-10% Cu, 0.1-2% P and 0.5-3% C. The mixture is sintered in a liq. phase in a nonoxidizing atmosphere such as nitrogen to form a wear-resistant sintered alloy contg. dispersed carbides. By said composition, Cr, V and Mo react with C to form hard carbides, so the wear resistance of the sintered alloy is improved. Cu makes the precipitated carbides fine and spheroidal.
