PURPOSE:An immune adjusting agent useful for remedying and preventing autoimmune disease, allergic disease, etc., showing immunosuppressive action, containing a chroman compound as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:The titled agent comprising a chroman compound shown by the formula (dotted line part is single bond, or double bond; n is 5-9) or its ester as an active ingredient. The chroman compound and its ester have the same effect as vitamin E and its ester with respect to anti-oxidant action, but it is found to have immusosuppressive action with respect to actions to provide immune ability, progressive muscular atrophy action, pregnancy keeping action, etc., whereas vitamin E has immune enhancing action. Consequently, it can be used for preventing and remedying autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, etc., allergic diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, etc. Hashimoto disease, etc., and it is administered by oral medication, intravenous injection, intramuscular injection, etc.
