PURPOSE:To obtain a recording medium having excellent resistance to water and light in wt., by a method wherein the second layer consisting of a pigment having high capability of absorbing and holding an ink is provided on a base, and an outermost surface layer consisting essentially of particulates of a thermoplastic organic polymer capable of forming a film by being dissolved or melted when being applied with a solvent or heated is provided thereon. CONSTITUTION:The pigment having a high ink-absorbing capability used for the second layer may be precipitated calcium carbonate, aluminum hydroxide or the like. Particularly, the pigment is preferably in the form of secondary agglomerates having an average particle diameter of 1-50mum obtained by agglomerating primary particles thereof. The particulate thermoplastic organic polymer used for the outermost surface layer may be polystyrene, polyethylene, polymethacrylate or the like. The particle diameter of the polymer particulates is generally set to be 0.01-50mum, preferably, 0.05-30mum, whereby voids required for absorbing the ink can be provided. |
