PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate raw material of pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, etc., in high yield, in a short time, by oxidizing cysteamine or its salt with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a specific catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound can be prepared by oxidizing cysteamine or its salt with an oxygen-containing gas in a solvent such as methanol, at 30-100 deg.C, in the presence of (A) one or more metallic ion compounds selected from the metals of the I b, IIb, IV and VIII groups of the periodic table and (B) a catalyst containing one or more compounds selected from sulfuric acid and the sulfates and sulfites of alkali metals, alkaline earth metals or ammonium. EFFECT:The rate of oxidization can be remarkably increased by the use of the above catalyst, and the yield of the objective compound can be highly improved usually by reacting for <=6hr. |
