PURPOSE:To prevent generation of the defective insulation occuring in a pinhole and to improve contrast with a liquid crystal display device which has multi-layered electrodes and makes display at a high density by forming the insulating layer on a base plate of a specified two-layered construction. CONSTITUTION:A metallic oxide or halide (e.g.; SiO2, CeO2, MgF2) are deposited by evaporation on a base plate (glass plate) 1 on which lead electrodes 4 are provided to form an inorg. insulating layer 2 then through-holes 6 are formed by a lift-off method. An org. insulating layer 3 consisting of polyimide, etc. is formed thereon and after the through-holes 6 are formed by photoetching, surface electrodes 5 having a prescribed shape and consisting of an indium oxide film, etc. are formed thereon and are connected through the holes 6 to the electrodes 4. A liquid crystal is sealed between the resulted base plate and the other base plate to provide a liquid crystal display device. |
