PURPOSE:To improve the quality of reproduced picturers when the operation mode of a titled device is switched from the normal reproduction to the slow motion reproduction or still reproduction, by successively switching the output of plural magnetic heads in accordance with a prefixed order after a prefixed period when the operation mode is switched from the normal reproduction to the slow motion reproduction and obtaining reproduced signals. CONSTITUTION:A slow mode signal impressed upon a terminal 16 at the time of slow mode is inputted into a capstan controlling circuit 17 and a capstan motor controlling signal 18 is generated. A capstan motor is intermittently driven by this signal 18. By frequency-dividing the capstan motor controlling signal 18 at a dividing circuit 19, the first feeding four frames after the slow mode is set are detected. By means of the frequency-divided output, an output obtained as a result of large-small comparison 15 is selected until the four frames are completed and a head amplifier changeover signal generated by a fixed pattern generating circuit 21 is selected after the four frames, by switching an electronic switch 20. Then another electronic switch 22 is switched by the selected outputs and, by demodulating the output obtained by switching the electronic switch 22 by means of a demodulation circuit 23, a video output 24 is obtained.
