PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for providing a program to a customer for use in a controller of a three-dimensional coordinate measurement system through a network. SOLUTION: A step are included to receive a request to create an executable program from a customer, and to input information such as experience level related to the execution of the program of the customer. The executable program to be created guides an operator through a number of measurement steps to be performed with a three-dimensional measurement system. The executable program is provided to the customer over a network.
