PURPOSE:To maintain the activity of the catalyst for a long term by carrying oxides of metals such as boron, aluminum, and gallium or using crystalline borosilicate which is exchanged for the metallic ions. CONSTITUTION:Metallic compds. are introduced into crystalline borosilicate by impregnation or ion exchange so that 0.1-30:100 weight ratio of the compds., consisting of nitrate, sulfate, and chloride of metals such as boron, aluminum, gallium, indium, and thallium, to borosilicate can be obtained. The product is calcined, and further molded when needed by adding alumina sol as a binder. Para-xylene is manufactured by using said catalyst from toluene or benzene at 400-700 deg.C and ordinary pressure 10kg cm<2>G. And the para-xylene can be manufactured with a high degree of selectivity. |
