PURPOSE:To obtain easily the titled compound without using an expensive silver salt, by reacting a carboxylic acid, an alcohl or phenol in the form of an o- trialkylsilyl derivative with a halide corresponding to a tertiary alcohol. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (Y is a residue when a carboxylic acid, alcohol or phenol is expressed by YOH; R is hydrocarbon group) obtained by trialkylsilylating the carboxylic acid, etc. is reacted with a halide of formula II(X is halogen) corresponding to a tertiary alcohol of the formula Z3COH (Z is hydrocarbon group) if necessary in the presence of a Lewis acid, e.g. tetrafluorosilane, to afford the aimed tertiary alcohol derivative of formula III. The introduction of the triphenylmethyl group having improved property as a protecting group can be easily carried out. |
