PURPOSE:To pulverize a toner and carrier and to enable sharp reproduction of fine lines, etc. by using a spherical toner for the toner of a two-component developer and developing the latent image on the surface of an electrostatic image carrier by exposing the developer layer formed on the surface of the developer carrier to an oscillating electric field. CONSTITUTION:A two-component developer using spherical particles of <=20mu and further <=10mu average grain size for the toner and spherical particles having <=50mu and further <=30mu average grain size for the carrier is used. The space in a developing part A between the surface of a latent image carrier and the surface of a toner carrier is made larger than the thickness of the toner layer and an AC or DC bias electric field is impressed on the part A to oscillate the developer layer by the oscillating electric field. Reproducibility of fine lines, etc. is improved by using the carrier and toner having the smaller grain sizes than the grain sizes of the conventional developer, by which a sharp image is obtd. |
