Hydraulic jack whose travel stop is formed by dimensioning the piston 4 in such a way that it can bear against the upper bearing 8, and by installing it in a non-sealed manner with axial play on the reduced lower end 17 of the rod 6, the upper part of the piston 4 pressing, via a flat seal 21, on a shoulder 22 provided under the rod 6 around its reduced end 17, communicating passages 29, 23, 24 being provided for allowing the oil which escapes between the said shoulder 22 and the said flat seal 21 at the upper end of travel of the jack to flow towards the reserve 13. <IMAGE>
