An indicating device is used for checking the state of filling of a magazine (1), particularly of a tool magazine of a numerically controlled machine tool. The magazine (1) has a plurality of receptacles (10, 11, 12) for a corresponding number of parts (13, 14, 15) to be received, and means are provided which indicate whether the parts (13, 14, 15) are located in a nominal position in the receptacles (10, 11, 12). The parts (13, 14, 15) are connected to one another at one end by means of a flexible connecting member and this connecting member is elastically suspended between two spatially fixed points (20, 23). At the connecting member, a reference mark generator (24) is arranged, opposite to which a sensor (26, 27) is placed in at least one nominal position (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
