DEVICE FOR RETENSIONING AND ENDLESS DELIVERY CHAIN ON THE DELIVERY OF A PRINTING PRESS

In a device for retensioning an endless delivery chain on the delivery of a printing press chain wheel bearing boxes 7 are provided which are displaceable in recesses of the side walls. For the continuous application of pressure to each bearing box in the chain tensioning direction, a tensioning element constantly producing a chain tensioning force is provided between the bearing box and a stop 19 in each side wall, said stop being rigid with the housing. The tensioning element comprises an elastic pressure equalization storage element in the form of a cup spring column 14 with the entire spring force of which the bearing box 7 is displaced in the chain tensioning direction after chain elongation. The total spring travel of the cup spring column can be varied for the purpose of setting or adjusting a defined chain tensioning force. Both chain wheels can be mounted either jointly on a straight-through chain wheel shaft or each separately on a short bearing pin. Before and after each adjustment the bearing boxes on the side walls must be locked e.g. by bolts 11. This can be dispensed with if the bearing boxes are guided free of play in the side walls.
