The invention relates to a method and a device for tearing out prepunched edge cutouts and edge sections from cardboard boxes, corrugated cardboard, plastic film or similar material. An inverted tooth type chain driven by a motor tears out the edge cutout and edge sections one after the other, from top to bottom. A guiding device mounted on a joint permits universal use for all format sizes. The stack is fixed by means of a pressure plate which prevents displacement of the individual layers.
