PURPOSE:To exclude the pseudo binary coding output due to an error of quantization, noiese, etc. and to extract assuredly the features of a pattern in real time, by binary coding the picture element corresponding to the point of measurement of a pattern signal in response to the slice level delivered by a control part. CONSTITUTION:The sum of picture elements P0-P2 or Q0-Q2 existing near the points of measurement of a pattern is obtained by adders 1 and 2 of a pattern signal binary coding device, and the mean values SP and SQ are delivered. These mean values are compared with reference levels by comparators 3 and 4 respectively, and decided whether are high level or low level. The outputs X and Y of comparators 3 and 4 are set at ''1'' (high level) and ''0'' (low level) and applied to a control part 5 respectively. The art 5 applies a high slice level THH, a low slice level THL and an intermediate slice level THM to a comparator 6 when the outputs X and Y are set at ''1'', ''0'' and other combination levels respectively and compared with the input signal at the point of measurement. Then the binary coding output is delivered in real time. |
