PURPOSE:To increase the torque of a step motor and to increase the ratio of the torque to the volume of a step motor by suitably selecting the number of salient poles of a stator and the number of salient poles of a rotor. CONSTITUTION:The number NR of salient poles of a rotor and the number NS of salient poles of a stator are set to satisfy the relation of NR=KR.m+ or -2, NS= KS.m.p, where KR, DS are arbitrary integer, number m is the number of phase of phase shifting winding, and p is logarithmic number of salient poles of the stator. For example, a positive current is fiower to U-phase winding 12 at a time t1, and a negative current is fiowed to V-phase winding 14. As a result, stator salient poles 10A, 10B are excited to N-poles, and salient poles 10D, 10E are excited to S-poles. At a time t2, no current is fiowed to the V-phase winding 14, and a negative current is fiowed to W-phase winding 16. At a time t3, a positive current is flower to the winding 14, a negative current is fiowed to the winding 16, and the stator salient poles are excited to rotate the rotor. |
