PURPOSE:To produce a seal face body capable of holding a large amount of an ink, by a method wherein an elastic open-cellular seal face body for occluding an ink is connected to the back of a hard open-cellular seal face body. CONSTITUTION:A monomer or an initial condensate of a synethetic high polymeric material kneaded with a fine powder, namely, a compound 1, is charged into a matrix 2. After sufficiently spreading the compound 1 to the corners of the matrix 2, the compound 1 is degassed, and an open-cellular elastic body 3 is quietly placed thereon. By the contact with the compound, the elastic body 3 is adhered to a seal face body after the compound 1 is hardened. When the compound 1 is left to stand at normal temperature and normal pressure for a predetermined period of time, gelation is started, and the compound is hardened, after which the molded body is released from the matrix 2. The letterpress seal face body is treated with a warm aqueous solution capable of decomposing the fine powder incorporated in the body, thereby decomposing the fine powder. At the end point of the decomposition, an open-cellular seal face body is obtained, which is then washed with water and is dried. Infiltration of a seal ink into the seal face body is effected by immersing the body in the ink, forced infiltration under a reduced pressure, application by a brush or the like. |
