PURPOSE:To provide a beryllium wire rod which is light, strong and has good thermal and electrical conductivity by subjecting a thin sheet of beryllium or the alloy thereof obtd. by ultra-quick cooling of a melt to cold rolling. CONSTITUTION:A melt 4 of a beryllium base material consisting of beryllium or the alloy thereof is ejected via a nozzle 2 to the space between rolls 5 and 5 where the molten metal is ultra-quickly cooled and a thin beryllium sheet 6 is obtd. The sheet 6 is passed between rolling rolls 7 and 7 by which the sheet is cold-rolled to a prescribed thickness. The resulting beryllium wire rod is light, strong and has excellent thermal and electrical conductivity. |
